INTRODUCTION

     In these next scriptures, we at VAL-TE’ believe refers to the non-physical essence of a person, and is often considered to be the immortal part of a person. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God – through Immanuel our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. Romans 7: 14-25 NKJV

     Job 34: 10-15 – Listen to me, you men who understand! Will Almighty God do what is wrong? He rewards people for what they do and treats them as they deserve. Almighty God does not do evil; he is never unjust to anyone. Did God get his power from someone else? Did someone put him in charge of the world? If God took back the breath of life, then everyone living would die and turn into dust again. GNT

Significance

     Our Soul (The combination of the physical body, and the life-giving Spirit of God that makes up a human being) – We at VAL-TE’ also believe to include a person’s identity, personality, memories, and is thought to be able to survive physical death. Acts as a link between the material body and the spiritual self, and therefore share some characteristics of both. It can be attracted towards things more concerned with the soul or towards things that solely involves the desire for physical relationships, thus being the battlefield of right and wrong. When God created humans from dust, the dust itself wasn’t just a vessel for a separate soul, but rather, by breathing the essence of life into it, the dust itself became the living soul, signifying that the body and soul are not separate entities, but are unified as one being.
