SEPARATING THE SPIRITUAL FROM THE PHYSICAL
THE HIDDEN MEANING

INTRODUCTION
In these next scriptures, we at VAL-TE’ believe treat rare, precious miracles as if they are ordinary, guaranteed, or owed to them. Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, “Immanuel, Master, have mercy on us!” So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Immanuel answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But were are the nine?” “Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” Luke 17: 11-19 NKJV
Biblical Word
TAKING THINGS FOR GRANTED – We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. Hebrews 2: 1-4 NIV
Reference
James 4: 13-17 – Now listen to me, you that say, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to a certain city, where we will stay a year and go into business and make a lot of money.” You don’t even know what your life tomorrow will be! You are like a puff of smoke, which appears for moment and then disappears. What you should say is this: “If the Lord is willing, we will live and do this or that.” But now you are proud, and you boast; all such boasting is wrong. So then, if we do not do the good we know we should do, we are guilty of sin. GNT
Significance
EDGING OUT GOD (Where we are physically awake, but spiritually asleep) – We at VAL-TE’ also believe pausing to look closely at a loved one or a simple meal restores our spiritual sight. Taking things for granted disconnects us from the present moment. We stop seeing our breath, our health, conscience, or loved ones as gifts. Our mind tricks us into thinking the good things in our life will last forever, forgetting that nothing in life ever lasts forever. A sunset becomes just a clock telling us the day has come and gone, rather than a beautiful blessing to have had experienced. The part of us that worries about status, being right, holding grudges, and comparing ourselves to others. Acts as a barrier between us and God (or love for others) because it makes our will more important than the will of God.
