INTRODUCTION

In these next scriptures, we at VAL-TE’ believe that these standards often emphasize principles like truth, holiness, righteousness, justice, and love, with the aim of promoting a moral life and a relationship with God and others. “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. “Woe to you, blind guides,  who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.’ Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold “or the temple that sanctifies the gold? And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he obliged to perform it.’ Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? Therefore he who swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it. He who swears by the temple, swears by I and by Him who dwells in it. And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay the of mint and anise and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! Matthew 23 13-24 NKJV

Biblical Word

LAW – See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the LORD  my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it. Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him? And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today? Deuteronomy 4: 5-8 NIV

Reference

Zechariah 7: 8-12 – The LORD gave this message to Zechariah: “Long ago I gave these commands to my people: ‘You must see that justice is done, and must show kindness and mercy to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners who live among you, or anyone else in need. And do not plan ways of harming one another.’ But my people stubbornly refused to listen. They closed their minds and made their hearts as hard as rock. Because they would not  listen to the teaching which I sent through the prophets who lived long ago, I became very angry.  GNT

Significance

God’s Moral Standards {Morality) – We at VAL-TE’ also believe doing what God requires is significant because they provide a foundation for ethical behavior, guide people of faith towards righteous living, and offer a sense of purpose and meaning in life. God is considered the source of truth, and His moral standards are based on His perfect knowledge and understanding of what is right and wrong. God is seen as the ultimate authority on morality, because He created humanity and has the right to set standards for them. This means that what is considered right or wrong does not depend on human opinion or societal norms, but on God’s unchanging standard.
