INTRODUCTION

     In these next scriptures, we at VAL-TE’ believe refers to the inner self that defines who someone really is at their core, regardless of normal functions that affect an individual that are outside of their control. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Immanuel, he is not His. And if Immanuel is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Immanuel from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Immanuel from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors – not to the flesh, to live according to theflesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs – heirs of God and joint heirs with Immanuel, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. Romans 8: 5-17 NKJV

     THE FLESH – Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth, and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins. James 5: 17-20 NIV

     Acts 14: 14-18 – When Barnabas and Paul heard what they were about to do, they tore their clothes and ran into the middle of the crowd, shouting, “Why are you doing this? We ourselves are only human beings like you! We are here to announce the Good News, to turn you away from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven, earth, sea, and all that is in them. In the past he allowed all people to go their own way. But he has always given evidence of his existence by the good things he does; he gives you rain from heaven and crops at the right times; he gives you food and fills your hearts with happiness.” Even with these words the apostles could hardly keep the crowd from offering a sacrifice to them. Significance

     Human Beings (Is to live in a physical body, and to recognize that we are spiritual beings, having a human experience) – We at VAL-TE’ also believe refers to the consciousness that strikes a balance between our normal function and moral conscience. This means that when we are selfish or harsh or proud or aggressive, all the excuses in the world, cannot hide who we really are like on the inside, we actually reveal our true thoughts by our actions. On a more personal scale, we all just want to be happy, and how we view human experiences influence our happiness. If we believe it emphasizes the ability to overcome challenges, we will look for and grow the potential for good, in ourselves and others. If we think that conflicts, sufferings, and troubles must be a direct result of wrongdoing, then we will have a much more negative attitude in life.
