INTRODUCTION

In these next scriptures, we at VAL-TE’ believe portray certain individuals as impatient with outward ritual observance, which make them look acceptable and virtuous outwardly, but left the inner person unreformed. Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath, one of his friends, and Phichol the commander of his army. And Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me and have sent me away from you?” But they said, “We have certainly seen that the LORD is with you. So we said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, between you and us and let us make a covenant with you, that you will do us no harm, since we have not touched you, and since we have done nothing to you but good and have sent you away in peace. You are now the blessed of the LORD. ‘” Genesis 26: 26-29 NKJV

Biblical Word

HATE – “But now listen, O Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen. This is what the LORD says – he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you: Do not be afraid, O Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. One will say, I belong to the LORD; another will call himself by the name of Jacob; still another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’S,’ and will take the name Israel. Isaiah 44: 1-5 NIV

Reference

Malachi 1: 1-3 – This is the message that the LORD gave Malachi to tell the people of Israel.  The LORD says to his people, “I have always loved you.” But they reply, “How have you shown your love for us?” The LORD answers, “Esau and Jacob were brothers, but I have love Jacob and his descendants, and have hated Esau and his descendants. I have devastated Esau’s hill country and abandoned the land to jackals.” GNT

Significance

Rival (A Person of Indifference – when he or she does not care about the feelings and opinions of others) – We at VAL-TE’ also believe because Rebecca had no children, Isaac prayed to the LORD for her. The LORD answered his prayer, and Rebecca became pregnant. She was going to have twins, and before they were born, they struggled against each other in her womb. She said, “Why should something like this happen to me?” So she went to ask the LORD for an answer. The LORD said to her, “Two nations are within you; You will give birth to two rival peoples. One will be stronger than the other; The older will serve the younger.” The time came for her to give birth, and she had twin sons. The first one was reddish, and his skin was like a hairy robe, so he was named Esau. The second one was born holding on tightly to the heel of Esau, so he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when they were born.
